Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her initial appearances on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. For her role as Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she won the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford can be seen next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust starring opposite Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is a Hulu Original, the film will be available on Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford will return in 2023. He will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the return of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the musical. Ashford's last performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was the star of two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are just a few of her Broadway credits. Born and raised in Denver Ashford now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
